I had Zuzue my Americauna rooster and I have Jade my Americauna hen, I had given my friend six of her eggs and they ALL hatched! She gave me two of the chicks. The dark one is Ann and the light one is Kathryn (Katy). I am actually hoping that one will be a rooster, so a name might change. They are so cute! And they get screaming so loud and won't stop unless I hold them, they're silly.

Chicks
Yes, these truly are the same chicks I showed you two weeks ago. They are not so cute any more. They are fat... really. I lost two the first week, so I'm down to 58, I didn't think that was too bad though. I like my chicks, even if they are fat and ugly. Can't wait to see them on the table! No...honestly I can.

Freedom Rangers
You ever wonder what 60 chicks look like? Well, you know, it's not the sight of the amount that got to me, it was the deafening noise that 60 chicks can make! My goodness they are loud!
And yes. I did just have 60 chicks arrive at my house. I may be crazy, but I'm excited. they are all Freedom Rangers, I am raising them for the freezer, well, some are for our freezer but I will be selling about half of them after butcher. I will keep updating their progress. When we lived in NY my parents raised meat birds, they raised the ugly white ones that stink, sitting around getting fat. These ones are a heritage breed, which, I've been told, live a normal chicken life and act like chickens right up until butchering. Also when they raised the white broilers, I had nothing to do with them, so really, I've never done this before. A new farming adventure! It is a lot of birds...

Chicks
I got more chicks! I was only going to get three but then my hen Sophia died so I got four. First I got Grace (the most photogenic hen in the world) and Molly (she's my sister's) Grace is a Buff Orpington, and Molly is a Brown Leghorn (Sophia was a White Leghorn).
Then I got Zoozoo and Jade. Goose was broody so I put easter eggs under her and when the chicks came in replaces the eggs with these two and she was possitive they were hers and she hatched them! They are both Americaunas

Dairy Day
Larissa from Tiny Hill Farm and I went over to the Farmer's Museum in Milton for their Dairy day. We brought four goats, three generations... Tilly's momma, Varla, Tilly, and Tilly's two babies. It was neat.
A happy little family! Wait, where's Leia? I see her!
Leibchen loves the new hay feeder!
Watch Out! Here comes Grandma!
We got show goat pictures of the babies! Just for fun!
We did a milking demonstration, not very many people were as interested in it as I thought would be. We milked Tilly and Varla.
Larissa also had some of her chicks with us. I'd tell you what breeds but the only ones I remember is turkeys and silkies....and that the chickens are four dollars each and the turkeys are eight, and she hatched them out at home.
Sorry, that's all the info I've got...check her web site for more, the link is above.
I brought Leibchen and Leia over to see the two driving horses, Leia was a little scared of them, especially the one that kept nudging her in the face! But Leibchen had a funny bonding with them! They kept smelling and nosing each other, it was funny.
